Understanding and Implementing Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorders in a Community

This presentation will help develop an understanding for the use of medications as part of a comprehensive approach for treating substance use disorders, and center medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as standard of care to treat opioid use disorders (OUD).

Day 1: “MAT 101/Why MAT?” will provide an overview of types of medications (including basic functionality and pharmacology) used to treat OUD; review the data for use of MAT and efficacy/outcomes over time; and address issues of access, or variation of availability across geography and agencies from both a local and national perspective.
