Understanding and Implementing Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorders in a Community (Day 2)

This presentation will help develop an understanding for the use of medications as part of a comprehensive approach for treating substance use disorders, and center medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as standard of care to treat opioid use disorders (OUD).

Day 2: “MAT Program Development,” will focus on the “how” of MAT program development: real and perceived barriers to building high-quality programs; encouraging culture shift among clinic staff; and responding to stigma or misperceptions around MAT in the provider and recovery community. We will also offer an overview of the practical components, considerations, and federal requirements necessary to add medication to addictions treatment programs. Finally, we will discuss our own experience building an integrated “Hub and Spoke” network to increase access to MAT in the tri-county area.
